This is an introductory pottery course for any skill level. This class is a prerequisite for Ceramics II. Students in this class will learn or improve basic hand-building techniques of pinch, coil, and slab to create unique works of art. Students will also be introduced to using molds and the potter’s wheels. Students will brainstorm and sketch ideas before construction of projects. Students will gain or improve their ability to hand-build and problem-solve through constructing with clay. Students will be able to create one-of-a-kind, decorative, or functional pieces of pottery. Students will also complete an altered book project throughout the trimester.
