ART Studio Art V: College Prep Art
In Studio Art V students will use all that they have discovered in their past art classes to develop a course of independent study that is self directed and leads to finishing their portfolio and the possible submission of said work to an art school. Students will be expected to, with the instructors help, research, plan, develop, and analyze at least 9 new, major, artworks that will advance their growth as an artist and complete their art portfolio. These artworks will be related in theme and show both the breadth and depth of the artist’s ability. This class is a contracted course and is for students who intend on attending college in an art area. The course is to be taken after all other art courses and students will go through an application process to have the consent of the instructor to take this course. The application process can be a part of the Studio IV experience, or may be done independently, in the semester before the student wishes to take this class. The application will include the student's past artworks in portfolio form, an explanation of the students expected career path and college expectations. This course is for the self motivated and artistically directed student and meant to prepare students for future college level coursework. The coursework will include (but is not limited to) creating new artwork, an art service project, presenting their artwork to a wider audience, a portfolio presentation and/or application to an art program at an art school or college. $5.00 materials fee
