Payroll accounting is a needed function within any business. It is vital to the success of the business to know exactly their salaries expense, payroll liabilities and the importance of having enough cash on hand to pay their employees.

In this course, students will develop personnel and payroll records that provide the information required under current laws and process payroll data, tax data and prepare reports. We will cover the basic rules of calculating a payroll along with the various ways an employee can be paid. We will then explore the rules and regulations that employers/employees must follow. Along with the governing rules we will examine and complete state and federal reporting forms. The student will complete both a manual and computerized payroll project.Note this is a “transcripted” course through WTC and students will earn college credit as well as high school credit.
