BUSINESS Special Topics in Business & Marketing - INDEPENDENT STUDY
This course provides students the opportunity to select a specific business- or marketing-related topic that they wish to explore on a deeper level. For example: Social Media Marketing, Investing, Event Planning, Business Ethics, etc. Students will work with the instructor to develop a personalized study plan. Study plan ideas include: book studies; following and reflection of blogs/vlogs/podcasts; exploration and reflection of additional online resources such as TedTalks, EdX courses, and Nepris career path interviews; community job shadows and interviews; exploring post-secondary education/training; FBLA membership to gain experience in the topic; competing in an FBLA event related to the topic. Students will combine all materials into a Project where they can showcase their new skills and knowledge. At the end of the term, students will create a Final Presentation to reflect on the knowledge and skills they gained and how it helped prepare them for their future.

**Flexible Learning** Online, Independent Study ONLY.

This class is offered every year, at any time that fits your schedule. You may also take it in addition to your schedule. All course material will be available online via Google Classroom. You will follow a weekly schedule for completion of learning activities and your project(s). Meet with Instructor at the start of the trimester for a course orientation. Periodic meetings with the instructor are required during the trimester to discuss progress and goals.
