Desktop Publishing is designed to give students an opportunity to explore a variety of software programs and features available within these programs. Students will create professional-looking documents with commonplace office technology. By learning the principles of document design and layout, students will gain experience in creating newsletters, advertisements, brochures, booklets, business forms and various other documents. Applications are designed to develop skills in critical thinking, decision-making, and creativity. Digital photography, scanning equipment, the Internet and varied software will be used as resources. Learning and exploring the world of desktop publishing is a great way to prepare for the future. Many companies and publishers are using this as their advertising medium. Emphasis will also be placed on Jostens Yearbook design. Students will explore the area of producing our yearbook with design layout, photography and promotional items.
