Course Description: Business law is for all students! In everyday life, laws affect each one of us. In our professional life, laws govern us. Each United States citizen has a duty to know the law and uphold it. You cannot plead ignorance. This course will give the student a good introduction on kinds of laws, where they came from and penalties that are imposed because of infractions of the law. An important part of the class is learning legal terminology. Students will gain knowledge regarding the six elements of a contract. A contract is essential in all parts of the business field as well as life in general. In addition, students will understand what courts can do if a contract is broken. The course is designed to give you a basic understanding of the practical application of business law to your personal and business life, now as well as in the future. Many law-related guest speakers visit from the community and a field trip to the courthouse round out the course.
