This course is a foundation course that is reading and writing heavy and focuses on critical thinking skills. Students will practice explanatory writing while engaging with various gothic texts and the novel "Something Wicked This Way Comes". Students will also engage in argumentative writing and speaking by participating in student-led literature circles and reading the novel "The Outsiders". Finally, students will read "The Great Gatsby" and work on identifying themes and symbols.
