Course Description: The AP English Literature and Composition course covers American and British literature, poetry, and drama from the 16th through the 21st century. Students enrolled in the course will engage in close reading of literary works of merit to more fully understand and appreciate the way writers create meaning and pleasure through the use of figurative language, structure, tone, and theme. Students will develop their writing skills in analytical, expository, and argumentative essays that focus on the critical analysis of the required readings. This course will prepare students to take the AP English Literature and Composition test in the spring.
* This elective course will fulfill the English requirement at either the junior or the senior level.
