This course is a higher-level alternative to fulfill the English 10 requirement. Students continue to build on the skills they learned in English 9 or Honors English 9 in their reading and writing, but at an accelerated rate than that of English 10. Students will dive into more challenging texts and higher level writing skills for a variety of audiences. Honors English 10 students have more emphasis on individual advocacy and initiative in their learning, and are responsible for more of their own time management and pacing than in English 10. Recommended for students planning to take college prep English, students who plan to pursue college after high school, students that did not find English 9 challenging enough, or strong readers and writers that want to challenge themselves and refine those skills. It is recommended that students consult with their current English teacher prior to registering for this course.
