ELA English IV

Course Description: This course is designed to teach ELA standards in reading, writing, speaking & listening, and language correlated to the Common Core State Standards for the 11/12 grade band. This course is appropriate for all seniors, whether pursuing college, technical school, military, or work after graduation. English IV is divided into three units. The first unit explores nonfiction narrative writing, the second unit guides students through a formal research project, and the third unit presents a novel study/analysis. Each unit offers multiple grade-level writing and discussion opportunities and culminates in a writing-based assessment that will show students’ mastery of the skills taught in that unit.
