This course will introduce students to texts (novel studies, short stories, film, etc.) from diverse cultural, historical, and social contexts. The goal is to familiarize students with traditionally underrepresented voices in the English canon. By the end of taking this course, students’ awareness of multicultural perspectives and understanding of global and domestic communities will be emboldened.
This course complements the department’s existing electives by expanding the range of literary traditions available for study, and it will allow students to continue to explore English literature if they choose to take an overload of English elective credits.
