MUSIC A cappella Choir

A cappella Choir is a class that is only offered during one trimester, but the A cappella choir (The AHS Accidentals) also meets at 6:45 am at least 3 days a week throughout the entire school year. Students need to be able to match pitch, read music, and be able to sing their own voice part using a microphone. A cappella music is extremely difficult and requires extra rigor to be successful. Students involved in this class receive at least four voice lessons throughout the trimester. The A cappella Choir members will focus on learning the Accidentals’ Music during class and on becoming better performers on the stage. If the students cannot be in this class due to scheduling issues, they will need to learn the music on their own and meet with Mrs. Siewert at least once a week for a lesson. The A cappella Choir will perform with the Concert Choir for Concerts and Large Group Contest. The A cappella Choir will perform at several concerts throughout the year, as well as attend Acafests/Clinics to improve their skill. They will also compete at ICHSA. Most years they will perform for the Ashley for the Arts celebration in August. Participation in this class will give the students an opportunity to be in the fall musical and participate at Solo Ensemble if they so choose. The A cappella Choir will also have the opportunity to participate in the music tours (ex. New York/Chicago) that happen every other year.
