Aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards
The second trimester of Biology (Bio-B), will begin where Biology 9 (Bio-A) left off. The course will begin
with applying what student remember concerning Cellular Reproduction and applying it to Fundamental Genetics and how DNA copies itself, makes RNA as well as proteins. This understanding will expand into how our environment and the living things with in it change or evolve over time. Following evolution, students will investigate microorganisms including viruses and bacteria as well as the classification system (taxonomy) of all the major classes of organisms. Finally students will have the opportunity to discuss the bioethical side of issues including ecology, and genetics and get a “hands-on” experience with basic anatomical and phyisiological identification.
