SCIENCE Biology 9

Aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards

This semester-long course starts with insight concerning how the Earth transitioned from its primitive physical world to a world capable of sustaining life. Once the understanding of foundation of life has been established, the course will continue on by exploring the essential themes of Biology including Cell Biology, Photosynthesis, Biochemistry, Cell Reproduction and Genetics. Within these themes students will focus on the comprehension of the primary cycles and concepts, as well as the recognition of appropriate terminology. Throughout the semester, students will participate in labs that correspond to each theme, while becoming fluent with data collection, data analysis and making logical predictions about the topic areas. Being able to construct, demonstrate, and communicate evidence that supports logical conclusions that align with the NGSS State Standards will strengthen our student's biological literacy.
