Aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards

This trimester-long course begins with insight concerning, according to science, how, most likely, the universe, stars and Earth were formed and transitioned from its primitive physical begining to a world capable of sustaining life. Once a foundation of understanding of life has been established, the course will continue on by exploring the essential themes of Biology including Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Photosynthesis, Cellular Respiration and Cell Reproduction. Within these themes students will focus on the comprehension of the primary cycles and concepts within each thof these themes, as well as the recognition of appropriate terminology. Throughout the trimester, students will participate in labs that correspond to each theme, while becoming fluent with data collection, data analysis and making logical predictions about the topic areas. Being able to construct, demonstrate, and communicate evidence that supports logical conclusions that align with the NGSS State Standards will strengthen our student's fundamental biological literacy.
