SCIENCE Earth Science

Earth Science is the study of Earth’s processes in the hydrosphere, geosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere. Topics include the Earth’s formation and its layers, earthquakes, volcanoes and plate tectonics. Students will come to an understanding of how many of these topics are interrelated and how scientists came to understand the relationships. For example, Earth’s plate tectonics lead to earthquakes and the formation of mountains and/or volcanoes. The course also focuses on weathering, water, meteorology, and Earth’s resources. Students will focus on how these various topics and processes affect humans as well as human’s effect on the processes.
