SCIENCE Lab Techniques
This course is a collaborative effort with University of Wisconsin – La Crosse. The first semester focuses on how to work in a science laboratory. Focus is on correct use of the scientific method as well as developing student familiarity with the specialized equipment and techniques used in the lab. Hands-on activities and demonstrations will increase students’ confidence in their science ability and give them a head start in future scientific study. Second semester focuses on the use of proper scientific methods to plan research projects, collect data, and draw conclusions. Specialized lab techniques for microbiology and DNA technology will be explored. Class may be of special interest to students interested in careers in forensic science or research.
