SOCIAL STUDIES Latin American History
Course Description: This course will examine major themes in Latin American history from European conquest to the modern era. The class will cover such topics as: national identity, economic development, political instability, military dictatorship, revolution, ethnicity and religion, and the influence of the United States in both the political and cultural spheres. The course will also analyze the Latinx (Latino) experience and identity in the United States. Emphasis will be given on the history of particular regions/countries, such as: Mexico, Central America, Cuba, and Puerto Rico.
