WORLD LANGUAGE Intro to Heritage Spanish (Spanish III)

This class is designed as an introduction to the study of Spanish Language Arts for native speakers of Spanish. Students will discuss, read, listen, and write all in Spanish as they explore topics related to biliteracy, language identity, and Chicano history and literature. Students will be expected to learn academic vocabulary and figurative language in Spanish while studying topics such as poetry analysis, and the importance of context and making connections when studying literature. They will also have extensive practice using and citing textual evidence while studying a Spanish language novel. Upon successful completion of this course with a C- or above, students are eligible to continue to Spanish IV/Heritage Spanish 1.

Prerequisites: minimum grade of C- in both Foundations of Academic Spanish A and B, or Spanish Placement Exam
