Spanish 3 is conducted primarily in Spanish and students are expected to communicate in Spanish. Students will be challenged to express themselves more accurately and in a more complex manner as the writing skills focus on structured paragraph writing and complete language expression. Students will be expected to expand their vocabulary range to include more sophisticated and academic terms, use advanced language expressions, verb tenses and grammatical concepts. Students will be exposed to various cultural components through reading nonfiction and viewing Spanish language media. Students who satisfactorily complete this course should be able to communicate, in speaking and writing, at a basic level with non-English speakers. Upon successful completion of this course with a C- or above, students would be eligible to continue to Spanish IV/Heritage 1A.
